Thanksgiving Dinner at Cafe Batik Datulaya Meruya

Sunday, October 18, 2015

Sometimes, some attractive cafes with nice interiors and good foods are located in the middle of the crowd of the city. And sometimes, you get yourself so bored to be everyday to be in it, and just want yourself to be in some vice versa situation.

First time I came to Cafe Batik, I thought that I found a cafe where we could step aside peacefully from the crowd in the middle of the city, well... literally it was located in the border of West Jakarta. I was so in love with the Indonesian-influenced interior design, like in mini Bali actually. Beside of that, they also had a mini batik gallery (which I peeped from outside the window glass) inside the cafe. I loved the ambience so much, so I wish at that time if I had another time, wanna make a visit again someday.

But never thought that I would come back again as the invitee of Cafe Batik's special dinner.

Throwing back to a year ago, when the cafe was first established, the cafe didn't make any kind of advertisement until Ms. Ivonne's (the owner) child made it on social media, and first introduced to the crowd when it was covered by the medias after the info from the social media. As an expression of gratitude for along its first year, they held a thanksgiving dinner with batik cultural dinner, and I was invited to attend the dinner too, among the owners' business partners and medias. :)

First, the dinner was opened by the honoured guests : Ms. Eka Moncarre (Managing Director Eka Voyages France), Mr. Hengky Manurung (Deputy Director of Tourism Investment), and Mr. Benot Badufle (Managing Director Goverment Tourist Bureau Asia Office); and later continued by the traditional dances and batik learning tour in the workshop located in the backmost of the cafe.

The batik collection, the patterns aren't Javanese batik anyway, it's Bantenese.

In this batik learning tour, I just learned and kinda surprised if Banten also has its own batik patterns! You know..... most all of the people know that Batik is only from Java, like me.

One of the experts of Batik Banten, explained about the batik.

Anyway, you can try to make your own batik here, and you can bring your own made home by making appointment first (the class is available in Monday to Saturday for 2 hours). The class is not only for the local and foreign tourists, but also for students and housewives. The price for students is IDR 200.000 / person (min. 20 persons).

Such an exciting experience for me to join the dinner. The last but not the least, thank you for the dinner invitation. Wishing you a bunch of luck in the future and keep inspiring. Cheers.
