An Elite "Warteg"! Publik Markette Grand Indonesia

Wednesday, March 25, 2015

Guess what I was doing. Yep, doing an ass-ignment without sleeping all night long, ended with so drowsy at morning. Almost puked coffee I'd drunk the night before inside my friend's car (I think) as I was having butterfly inside my stomack. Ended with sleeping inside campus' iMacs room, bothering the lecture given, with other sleeping friends who were also drowsy of awoke all night. And.... still continue my beautiful nap on my bed for hours, and woken by a call from The Boss.

And now, ended with sitting in front of non-stop working laptop since last night to post up this one. Thank God no ass-ignment to submit tomorrow!!!!! So, let's start this food journal.

Publik Markette
Went together to Jakarta Culinary Passport 2015 with fellow foodies to Grand Indonesia after had a food tasting session in Plaza Indonesia, after that we went to East Mall and saw many newly opened restaurant there. But the one that intrigued our eyes was Publik Markette, since it was super newly opened (only few days before we came there) there and I'd read some food reviews about Publik Markette on my blog feeds.

The interior inside was SO SO SO PRETTY!!!! Couldn't take my eyes of Publik Markette at that time, I said to myself that I wanted to be there. Alfa asked us how about having desserts there? I said a big yes to him since I was so curious at that time. Took a long waiting list, but it worth for me, I loved the interior.

LOOK!!!!!

The interior is kinda like art deco interior with gold and little touch of green from the plants. Seems unique since I never see interiors with art deco style with green color palette. There is separation beetween the non-smoking and smoking section, we chose to be in smoking section since it was located next to window. Hmmm, you know, it's the favorite spot for foodie to take great pictures HAHAHA. Let the pictures talk about the things I love from my visit to Publik Markette.

The hanging lamps with touch of gold.

Big window with touch of art deco design.

The bar.

Spotted some lovely details inside.

So, what's unique?
Ismaya runs Publik Markette with a new concept, most of the foods menu are changed daily, so if you have lunch on Monday you won't see the same foods served on Tuesday. I guess this is a new refreshing concepts since Publik Markette's are market driven.

I love the semi open kitchen in Publik Markette, you can see the people in the kitchen preparing delicious things. Anyway, the foods are displayed in glass display table, see the tempting foods and pick those!

Find your favorite letterings on the glass display. ;)

Yeah, in my opinion,
Publik Markette is also a innovator for touchscreen technology in hi-end restaurants.

Seriously, don't take it too serious. I mean..... just touch the glass display and point at glass whatever you like, and the foods will be picked up for you by the waiter HAHAHA! However, Publik Markette reminds me of my favorite "warteg" near my campus. :')

For those of you who don't know what "warteg" is, it's short for Warung Tegal, a simple low-cost yet homey restaurant which sells wide range of cheap-priced dishes. Just point whatever you like on the glass display, so the foods will be picked up for you and served in plate.

So, this is how if Ismaya runs a warteg, and it must be an elite "warteg" like this. Oh, how I love warteg so much, so that's the way how I love Publik Markette at the first sight LOL. Just kidding, pardon my cheesy sense of joke. :p

However, they call this canteen food display as "Food Gallery". Go to the food gallery with the number on your table, then pick everything you want in the gallery, let your foods ordered input in cashier and just sit and wait until your foods will be delivered on your table.

Complimentary breads and mashed potato.

See the kitchen situation with your own eyes.

Can you guess what it is?

The one that will pick your foods up.

Bakery section. :9

So tempting, isn't it?

Cakery section.

Fresh cold juices in bottles.

The desserts
So excited to have desserts inside Publik Markette at that day, the place was so nice despite super packed inside.

Pump Up The Beet (Rp 38.000)
Girls, order this one if you care about having a smooth and nice skin. It might be an ordinary purple juice at the first time I looked at it, but it's a mix of beetroot, pineapple, orange which contains more vitamin C and antioxidants. Tasted great.

Tropical Sunrise (Rp 38.000)
Mixed juices of greens, pineapple, cucumber, lemon and honeydew. Sounds healthy!

Pump Up The Beet (Rp 38.000) + Tropical Sunrise. (Rp 38.000)

Spanish Chocolate Tart with Extra Virgin Oil and Sea Salt (Rp 50.000)
An unique chocolate cake with caramel and some thick chocolate layer. Love the texture and taste the chocolate cake differently as it's little bit salty.

Crack Pie (Rp 55.000)
This one is super recommended by me, served with caramel and chocolate sauce topping makes it the most tempting one. I lose words for describing this, how about tasting it by yourself? ;)

Pumpkin Pie (Rp 55.000)
Not too sweet, but you may try it if you love pumpkin pie. Not a big fan of pumpkin, even it's made into a cake.

Hmm... wait...
Food bloggers will always do anything to get good angles and photos. So, we were the only people who stood up and took pictures with DSLR camera for a long time, and we even didn't touch the foods until we got some good photos. Perhaps it caught attention to someone who was in charged there. A tall man with glasses later came to us and he asked questions.

"Food bloggers, aren't you?"

I'm always be the insecure one if a waiter or manager comes up to me and it ends with prohibiting me taking pictures with professional camera (well said, mine isn't too professional). But, he allowed me to take pictures everywhere I liked in Publik Markette WHOA SO HAPPYYY!!! Even he suggested us to take pictures in the food gallery and even tasted some foods served at that day.

After had a chit chat together with him, the tall man later left us for a while, so me and others still thought about the ambiguous words he said. It was clear until he came back again and said : we could take every food we wanted in food gallery. So we did it, accompanied by him.

Here were the picks of the day!
Actually at that time we were so hungry, but... photo first before we ate!!!

Nasi Briyani with BBQ Beef Brisket and Yorkshire Pudding. (Rp 155.000)
The BBQ Beef Brisket is soooo tender, easy to cut, and I love the seasoning. Perfect to be eaten along with your Nasi Briyani. Anyway, you see a bread comes with the Nasi Briyani? It's Yorkshire Pudding, however it doesn't taste like ordinary bread. Crispy outside and the texture is soft and kinda bland inside, I bet you'll like it, yummy!

BBQ Beef Brisket with Yorkshire Pudding (Rp 20.000 - ala carte) and Nasi Briyani. (Rp 155.000)

BBQ Pork Corstone (Rp 80.000)
Never saw a bread with pork topping like this haha, the bread is crispy and the pork so tender! Non halal.

BBQ Pork Crostone.

Balinese Corn (Rp 20.000)
Corn with spicy Balinese seasoning, tasted so Bali when you ate this. My friend who didn't like eating spicy things said it was super hot, so I suggest this one if you're a spicy foods lover, like me. Actually I didn't feel the corn was hot.

Balinese Corn. (Rp 20.000)

Crispy Pork Belly (Rp 155.000)
Remarked this one as one of the best pork belly in town, comes with lovely juicy texture and perfect seasoning. What could I say? SCRUMPTIOUS! Recommended one to order! Non halal.

Crispy Pork Belly. (Rp 155.000)

Bacon Mac and Cheese (Rp 40.000)
Expecting much from this, but however this tastes so plain for me, like cooked without seasoning. Hmm.. I even didn't notice if there was a bacon inside.

Mac and Cheese.

Herb Rotisserie Chicken Half (Rp 115.000)
Best food to share with your friends, the chicken was juicy and tender, easy to cut and the came in generous portion of meat. The seasoning for me is not too strong, so I recommend you to eat this one with chili sauce served along the chicken.

Herb Rotisserie Chicken Half (Rp 155.000) with Spicy Asian Green.

How was my day?
  • I bet you'll quickly love this place, great interior comes with great service from the chef, waiters, and even the manager.
  • Frankly speaking, the foods are kinda pricey, but most of all food we tried came in big size and so goddamn scrumptious!!!! Really, I'm not exaggerating.
  • Be patient to be in waiting list. :)

Actually we got surprised in Publik Markette since all the foods above are complimentary from the tall man, yeah your eyes don't wrong to read the red bold words. So we actually had a second impromptu food tasting at that day. #RejekiAnakSoleh #MimpiApaUbiSemalam

#RejekiAnakSoleh #UbiMakanBesar

And I consider it as my birthday treats from Publik Markette, since this "surprise" came a day before my 21st birthday (Yeah I know it's pretty late as my birthday's in February, blame the assignments for the late posts). So happy! :)

The last but not the least, thank you for the tall man a.k.a Raynald, manager of Publik Markette (I just knew his name lately from other foodies) who came to us. It's been a pleasure to meet you up and feel the new concept of Ismaya Experience. Best of luck to Publik Markette!

Thank you dear Raynald for having us.

  2. Makin oke review nya nih bii, tapi lo kayaknya lupa deh sama requesan gue kamrin yg minta tekhnik moto cafe atau restoran :')

btw gue setuju banget, dapur yang sekalian bisa dilihat sama pelanggan itu asik. Kita jadi tahu gimana proses mereka masak, steril atau gak, cuman kadang ada yg bikin sebel juga, suka ribut kadang.

Btw, saran gue tulisan lo pake readmore kek bii biar gak scroll kebawah panjang bangetttt hehe

    1. wizzzhhh aku mah apa atuh dit wkwkwkw. oh iya gue lupaaaa, gara-gara banyak post yang kudu kejer tayang juga, nanti yah kalo post kejar tayangnya udah abis semua gua bikin request lu.

cara nambahin read more gimana sih? HAHAHA gue males banget kalo yang di tiap post dikasih read more sendiri, post yang lama-lama ga bisa otomatis ke-read more sendiri. gua sih lebih suka ga pake read more juga.

  3. Fotonya terlalu 'busy' dan lack of techniques. Food nya keliatan plain, tidak menarik, lack of focal point.

Saran saya, perbanyak lihat foto2 makanan spt chef OZ sekaligus photographer, Donna Hay. Check it out: https://www.donnahay.com.au/recipes/fresh-and-light/
